I toured a fulfillment center at the beginning of this year (pre-covid times). All the employees still kept a good distance away from each other and it was eerily quiet (aside from the tour guide explaining everything I did not hear any of the employees talk). Only the sounds of the Kiva machines whirring, tape being ripped, and merchandise being moved around. We also weren’t allowed to take photos except at this one designated spot by the entrance.
Definitely wish there was more socializing for the employees of some sort, 10+ hour shifts of doing the same thing repetitively every day and planning out bathroom breaks can really make someone hate their job in the long run — Amazon’s turnover rate is ridiculous.
